Fun Mum ActivationFive weeks ยท Built by an Occupational Therapist

Remember looking forward to something?

Not a holiday. Not a night out you'd have to organise, book six months in advance and take a week to recover from. Something in an ordinary Tuesday that's yours, that you'd move things around for. The kind of thing where you look up and it's dark outside and you haven't thought about the washing once. Without guilt.

You haven't lost that. It's gone quiet, which is a different thing entirely... and five weeks, done in the right order, is enough to get it back.

You're not burnt out. Which is exactly why nothing has worked.

You're the one people ring when something needs handling. The work gets done, the kids are fine, the house runs, and you are extremely good at all of it.

Nobody looking at your life would say you had a problem. You'd struggle to say it out loud yourself, which is precisely why you never have.

Burnout is loud. This feeling is quiet. You still function beautifully... you've just stopped registering any of it. Good days go past in good order and none of them land.

So everything you've reached for has been aimed at the wrong thing. You don't need more rest. You've had rest. You need the part of you that wants things switched back on.

That part isn't gone. It's turned down, which is a different problem with a different fix.

The quiet part You're fine.
That's the bit that's wrong.
Before we go further

You've already done the sensible things.

  • The retreat. Beautiful. Back to baseline by Thursday.
  • The 5am start, the only hour nobody could take.
  • The trip you waited months for and couldn't feel a fortnight later.
  • The massage voucher that expired in the drawer.
  • The new planner. The clean-out. The colour-coded calendar.
  • The app with the streak you held for eleven days.
  • The magnesium, the sleep tracker, the blackout blinds.
  • The girls' weekend that quietly became everyone's admin.
  • The gym membership you are still paying for.
  • Being told to ask for help, by people who then needed managing.

None of it was wrong. All of it assumed you were tired and just needed a break.

What's actually happening

Why an hour to yourself doesn't touch the sides

You finally got an hour. You had the bath, or the coffee, or the walk on your own. And you came back feeling more or less the same as when you left.

That isn't you doing rest wrong. It's that your nervous system never actually clocked off. One ear on the house. One eye on the clock. Half of you still on call in case somebody needed something.

The only time it properly clocks off is when you lose track of time. Not when you schedule a break. When you're so into something that you look up and two hours have gone. Which is why an afternoon that got away from you leaves you lighter, and an hour you carefully carved out leaves you flat.

That's what regulation actually is, underneath all the wellness talk. Not calm. Not sitting still. Your nervous system coming off duty for long enough to put something back.

The harder part

So why can't you answer this simple question?

Ask a woman in your position what she'd do with a completely free Saturday, and she pauses. Then she says something sensible. Sleep, probably. Get on top of the washing.

The pause is the bit worth noticing. Not the answer.

Wanting things works a bit like a muscle. Use it and choosing is easy... you know what you feel like, you go and do it. Go years without using it, because there was never a spare minute and somebody always needed something first, and it goes quiet. Nothing pulls at you, so you don't pick anything, so nothing gives you anything back.

There's a physical reason for it. A nervous system that's been braced for years stops bothering to tell you what you like... preferences aren't much use when the job is getting through the week. Your body cut them to save you the effort. It was trying to help.

Which is why you can't simply decide to take up a hobby. You've tried. You sat there, couldn't think of a single thing, and quietly decided that was a you problem. It isn't. Your body has nothing to hand you yet.

The bit that gets left out

Fun is fuel

Nobody has ever drawn you the line between the two. An afternoon doing something you love isn't time away from everything else... it's where the capacity for everything else comes from. Patience with a difficult teenager. Clarity on the decision that's been sitting there for a fortnight. A bad Tuesday that doesn't take the rest of the week with it.

It has always felt like an indulgence, which is why it's the first thing to go... it was the one thing holding the rest of it up.

You've been doing the right things in the wrong order.

[[IMAGE_FUN]] โ€” wide lifestyle shot, 21:8You in the middle of something you actually love... hands busy, mid-laugh, not posed to camera. This is the proof shot for "fun is fuel". Landscape, warm light, plenty of room around you.

Optional caption line... a short sentence in your voice works well here.

The framework

The Fun Mum Formula

Five steps, taken in order. Not a menu you choose from... each one only becomes possible once you're standing on the one before it.

You can't pick something to look forward to while your energy is leaving through five holes you can't see. You can't name what you like while you're still only the person who handles things. And nothing survives one genuinely bad fortnight unless it has already become a rhythm.

Every reset you've tried handed you the activity first. Pick a hobby, book the class, protect the hour. That works if your system is already producing wants. If it isn't, you're choosing from a list with nothing in you that wants any of it... which is why the effort quietly collapsed every time.

This is the framework I use clinically, and five weeks takes you up all five steps. It's the same reasoning I'd apply sitting across from you, built so you can do it inside your own week.

Step five is where it becomes a rhythm, which is the point... so you don't have to climb it again next month.

A fair question

Couldn't you just look all this up?

Honestly, yes. Most of what's in here exists somewhere. You could ask an AI for nervous system strategies tonight and have a list of twelve before bed.

You'd get decent information. It still wouldn't change your Tuesday, for three reasons.

01 You've never had an information problem You already know you should rest, move, see your friends, do something you like. Knowing was never the gap. You could recite the advice and still not answer what you'd do with a free Saturday.
02 It starts at the wrong end Ask anything for hobby ideas and you'll get hobby ideas. Twelve of them, all perfectly sensible, none of which pull at you. A list can't tell you what you want... it can only wait for you to already know.
03 Your body doesn't settle on a screen Regulation happens between nervous systems. Yours calms down around people who feel safe, which is an entire step of this framework and not something you can do alone with a device at eleven at night.

A search gives you information. It can't give you access to a clinician.

I built this because I needed it.

I spent years running on fight or flight without having a clue that's what it was. Doing everything right. Keeping everything going. Feeling almost none of it.

Being an OT and finally using those principles on my own life is what showed me the way out. I could see what my own nervous system was up to for the first time, and I knew enough to do something about it. That's the only real difference between us... I happened to get handed the science, so now I can hand it to you instead of you piecing it together on your own at midnight.

And I'm still doing the work. I'm not writing this from the far side of it telling you it's easy... I'm just a bit further along than you are.

It's a method, and it runs in a specific order. First we find what's draining you, then we go looking for what got buried under everybody else's needs, then we work out who you can genuinely relax around and who you can't, and only then do we rebuild the thing that actually refuels you... play, hobbies, adventure, the stuff that drowns out the noise of an ordinary week.

Once that's running, women tell me the rest follows. Sleep gets easier. Decisions that used to sit on a list for a fortnight get made in ten minutes. There's more patience in the house by six o'clock, and more of you left for the person you married rather than the household you co-manage.

And you become the mum your kids actually want to hang around with. Which is the thing you've wanted this whole time, and could never work out how to get back to.

You can find information anywhere. This is the order it goes in, the room it happens in, and somebody who has done this professionally and personally standing next to you while you do it, all five weeks.

What you'll do

Five weeks, in this order, on purpose.

A module lands every Monday. You watch it when the house is quiet, do the work inside the week you're already living, and arrive at the live Week 5 session with four weeks of your own material behind you.

01
RegulateEnergy

Close the five leaks, starting with the one costing you most

There are five specific patterns pulling energy out of your day before lunchtime, and they're invisible because they look like competence. Naming them takes an hour. Closing them is the work, and this is the week you do it. You'll get the strategy for each, starting with the most expensive one. The first shift is usually physical... the 3pm drop stops arriving on schedule, and your jaw isn't set by pickup time.

By SundayYour leak pattern has a name, two of them are already shut, and you've got energy left at the end of a day for the first time in a while.

02
ReclaimIdentity

Find the woman underneath the one who handles everything

Proper excavation, not a vision board. What you liked before you became indispensable. What you did without first checking whether you'd earned it. What you're still drawn to and have never once said out loud. The shift here is small and slightly strange... you catch yourself having a preference, and it turns up before you've checked whether it's allowed.

By SundayA real list built from your own history, and an answer ready the next time somebody asks what you'd love to do.

03
ReconnectRelationships

Separate the people who settle you from the people you perform for

You were never built to regulate alone. Some people make your shoulders drop the moment you walk in. Others have you subtly on duty without either of you noticing. This is where you tell the difference, and start spending your time accordingly. You'll notice which conversations you leave lighter from, and which ones you've been performing your way through.

By SundayYou know who settles you, one relationship has already moved, and you've said something at a dinner table you'd normally have edited.

04
RediscoverFun & Fulfilment

Put something back in the week that you actually want

Hobbies, play, the kind of thing you look up from and find two hours have gone... not indulgences you get to once the list is clear. Regulation tools with a clinical rationale behind them. This is where the work from Weeks 2 and 3 turns into things you're looking forward to rather than things you should probably do. It's usually the week something in the diary stops being an obligation and starts being the bit you're protecting.

By SundayA shortlist that actually pulls at you, and one thing already booked in that's yours.

05
RedesignLive with Hayley, Occupational Therapist

Build the month, with me, in the room

A live session where you map the month ahead with your name genuinely in it, not slotted into the margins once everyone else's schedule is set. Built on four weeks of your own material, which is exactly why it survives the first difficult week. You leave with the month mapped and, more usefully, the sense that it will hold when something falls over.

You leave withA mapped month you actually want to follow, and a way of rebuilding it every month after this one.

06
Your bonus week

Week six is where it keeps going, without you having to start again

Most programs finish and hand you back to yourself. This one doesn't. You've been in the Fun Mum Society since the day you signed up, so week six isn't a new thing to start... it's your first Fun Prescription session, mapping the month ahead alongside women who have just done what you've done.

Four live calls a month, two of them Q&A with me, and a room of women a few months further along who will tell you what worked and what they wasted time on.

Your six weeks of Society access start the day you buy the Activation, so week six costs you nothing extra. It's the week this stops being a course and starts being how you run your month.

Five weeks from now

What's different, in an ordinary week

Not a new life. The same one, with you actually in it. These are the things women notice first, usually somewhere around week three, and almost always before they'd say anything out loud about it.

  • 01You're looking forward to a TuesdayThere's something in the week that's yours. It isn't a holiday or anybody's birthday, it's small, and you'd move things around to protect it.
  • 02The pause is goneSomebody asks what you'd love to do with a free day and you answer straight away, without translating it into something useful first. You'd forgotten answering used to be instant.
  • 03Dinner stopped being a shiftYou're properly at the table rather than half-listening while you run the next three hours in your head. Your kids notice before you do.
  • 04You said no and slept fineNo guilt hangover, no rehearsing it for three hours afterwards. The person you said it to was completely fine, which is the part that surprises you.
  • 05Something fell over and you didn'tPlans changed at the last minute and the rest of the day didn't go with them. You adjusted, got on with it, and by the evening you'd stopped thinking about it.
  • 06You laughed at something stupidNot an improved version of you, not an optimised one. Just the woman who finds things funny again instead of quietly counting down to bedtime.
And it doesn't stop there

Then something else starts happening

Once wanting comes back, it doesn't stay in its lane. It turns up in your body first, then in the people around you, and then in how you run everything else.

None of it is dramatic. You just notice, somewhere around week four, that things which used to be hard work aren't.

In your body

  • You wake before the alarm and don't resent it.
  • Your jaw isn't tight by the time you pull into the pickup line.
  • The 3pm drop stops being the shape of your afternoon.
  • You're not scrolling at eleven at night hoping something makes you feel something.
  • Friday doesn't need two glasses of wine before it counts as a good night.

With your people

  • Someone asks what you've been up to and you have an actual answer.
  • You said what you actually thought at dinner, not the version that keeps everyone comfortable.
  • Your teenager tells you something without you having to ask twice.
  • You're the one suggesting something now, not the one who's too tired.
  • Your partner is talking to a woman with a life, rather than a co-manager of a household.

In how you run things

  • Decisions that sat on a list for three weeks get made in ten minutes.
  • You said no to the thing you'd normally say yes to and then quietly resent.
  • You stopped over-delivering on things nobody asked you to over-deliver on.
  • You hand things over without first justifying it to yourself.

And your kids are watching all of it.

They're learning what a woman's life looks like when she's still in it... which is the part you'd never say out loud, but is honestly why you're here.

The honest bit

Who this is built for

This is for you if...

  • Everyone thinks you're fine, and you've never corrected them.
  • Someone asked what you'd love to do and you couldn't answer quickly.
  • You've had the hour, the weekend, the early night... and none of it touched the sides.
  • You say yes to things you don't want, then carry the resentment quietly for a week.
  • You'd rather understand what your body is doing than be told to try harder at it.
  • Your kids are old enough to be watching how you treat yourself, and you've noticed.
  • You want it to end. Five weeks, defined, with something in your hand at the finish.

This isn't for you if...

  • You're in acute crisis. This is a program, not clinical care... please speak to your GP first.
  • You want a productivity system. This will make your calendar less efficient on purpose.
  • You want someone to hand you a list of hobbies. The whole point is that it comes from you.
  • You want to be told you're doing brilliantly. You are, and it hasn't helped.
  • You want the five weeks to happen to you. The work is small, but you do have to do it.

Who's running it

Hi, I'm Hayley.

I'm an Occupational Therapist. My entire profession rests on one idea: what a person does all day determines how they function. Not how they think about it. Not how motivated they are. What they actually do... their occupations, which is where the name comes from. It was never about jobs.

I'm also a single mum of three teenagers. I spent years being very good at all of it and feeling almost none of it. I knew the science, and I still couldn't have told you what I'd do with a free Saturday.

[[ONE SPECIFIC MOMENT โ€” a room, an evening, a question you couldn't answer. Two sentences. This is the bit that makes her feel like she's reading about herself.]]

The Fun Mum Formula is that thinking turned into a method. Five steps, in the order they have to happen, built from what I've watched work in practice rather than what reads well on a list. It's not mindset work and it isn't self-care... it's clinical reasoning, translated for the woman whose calendar is full, whose kids are fine, whose work is going well, and who couldn't tell you the last time she looked forward to something that was hers. Or did it without feeling guilty.

A real person built this, and a real person is in the room with you.

Two payments if that's easier... this shouldn't be another thing you're quietly carrying. You've spent more than this on a weekend you enjoyed properly and stopped feeling by the following Thursday. The difference here is what you're still holding in March.

Before you decide

Questions people ask

I've done things like this before and nothing stuck.

They didn't stick because they started at the end. Most programs hand you the activity first... pick a hobby, book the class, protect the hour. That works if your system is already producing wants. If it isn't, you're being asked to choose with nothing to choose from, and the effort quietly collapses.

This runs the other way round. Energy, then identity, then people, then the activity, then the rhythm. By the time you're choosing something in Week 4, there's actually something there to choose.

I genuinely don't have time for this.

Everyone says it and almost nobody means it literally. The modules are short and the work happens inside the week you're already living... noticing what drains you doesn't require a spare hour, it requires attention you're already spending elsewhere.

The one fixed commitment is the live session in Week 5, and it's recorded.

If time is honestly the barrier, that's Week 1's material. In my experience it's the leaks, not the calendar.

I don't know what I enjoy anymore. Will this still work?

That's the exact starting point it was built for. If you already knew, you wouldn't need Weeks 2, 3 and 4.

Blankness is a state, not a personality trait. The sequence exists so the answer comes back to you, rather than you having to produce one on demand for a worksheet.

Is this therapy?

No. It's occupational therapy reasoning applied to an ordinary life... what you do all day, and what that's doing to your system. Practical rather than diagnostic, and it won't ask you to excavate your childhood.

If you're already working with a therapist, this sits alongside that comfortably. If you're in crisis, please start there instead.

What if my kids aren't teenagers?

No. This lives in your nervous system, not your children's ages. The teenage years just tend to be when the quiet catches up, because the physical demands ease off and the space underneath is emptier than you were expecting.

Is it live or recorded?

Both. The five modules are pre-recorded and released each Monday so you watch on your own clock. The Q&As and the Week 5 Fun Prescription session are live with me, and recorded if you can't be there.

What if it turns out not to be for me?

[[REPLACE โ€” your refund wording. Keep it short and plainly stated. This audience reads long fine print as a tell.]]

Do I have to stay in the Society afterwards?

No. Your first six weeks are included, and it stops there unless you actively choose to continue at $97/month. Cancelling takes one click, any time. The Activation is complete on its own.

You keep saying you'll get to yourself later.

Later doesn't turn up on its own. There's no week where everything's handled and the space just opens... space fills with everybody else's needs the second it appears. That's been happening for years.

And you're not on pause in the meantime. You're just getting further from the version of you who had things going on. That's the bit that worries me.

It's five weeks. Come and do it with me.
