7 Practical Ways for Busy Mums to Manage Stress and Prevent Burnout

Motherhood is one of the most fulfilling and rewarding experiences you can have in life. However, it also comes with its fair share of stress and challenges that you need to learn to manage to prevent burnout.

As a busy mum, your plate is always full, and demands of work, family, health and just LIFE may seem overwhelming at times. But this doesn't have to be the case - there are ways to manage stress and avoid burnout. Here are ways you can tap into your LIFE FORCE energy and things that you can implement to help you stress less, stay motivated, and avoid exhaustion.

1. Set Aside Time for "Me Time"

As a mom, it's easy to prioritise everyone else's needs above your own. However, it's essential that you carve out a portion of your day dedicated to taking care of yourself. This can be as simple as twenty minutes to read a book, take a relaxing bath, or whatever else makes you happy. Please make sure you communicate  your needs with your family, you will need their support on this one more often then not.

2. Practice Self-Care Daily

Self-care is a powerful weapon in the war against stress and burnout. This can include getting enough sleep, eating a balanced diet, regular exercise, or even meditation. When you prioritise self-care, you'll feel more energised and on top of the tasks you need to complete.

3. Seek Support When You Need It

Remember, it's okay to ask for help. Whether it's from your partner, family, friends, or even a professional therapist, do not hesitate to reach out. Having a support system can make all the difference, so you don't have to do it all alone.

4. Prioritise Sleep and Rest

Sleep is an essential factor in maintaining a healthy mind and body. It allows your body to rest and recharge as well as replenishing your energy levels. Make a schedule that prioritises sleep and make sure you try to head to bed at the same time each night and ensure that you stick to it. (around sick kids of course!)

5. Learn to Say No

Accepting every request that comes your way, such as attending every event, can be emotionally and physically exhausting. Only commit to the things you truly want to do. This approach helps you conserve your energy and time, keeping you focused on the most essential things. Ask yourself... who benefits most from me saying YES and is that the best outcome for both parties?

6. Prioritise Your Tasks

As a busy mum, you have to handle a variety of tasks each day. Create a task list and prioritise the most critical responsibilities. Setting a priority list helps you to reduce stress levels by relieving yourself of the pressure of having to do everything all at once.

7. Take Small Breaks Throughout Each Day

Taking breaks doesn't waste your time or decrease productivity. Work for an hour or two, and then take a short break. Use your break to walk around or sit outside to take in some fresh air. You'll feel refreshed and energised when you return to tasks.
I like to call them "Movement Snacks"

There you have it - seven practical tips for managing stress and preventing burnout as a mother. Always remember to take care of yourself first, and everything else will fall into place.
